Holiday Recap
Wow, has it really been three weeks since my last post? Whoops.
Well, my Christmas was fun. Ben and I drove up to his parent's place in Globe. It was actually cold enough up there to see my breath so it kind of felt like Christmas. There was even snow on the mountains on the drive up. Christmas Eve night was spent doing the usual activities - wrapping presents and baking Kringle. This was the first Christmas that was spent away from my family. Opening presents on Christmas morning took forever because the tradition in Ben's family is to open them one at a time and have everyone watch.
My family flew in on the 27th, the Friday following Christmas. It was really great to see them all again. Although I had to work while they were here I did get to spend the evenings with them. For New Years we drove up to Las Vegas and stayed at Circus Circus. The first night we were there, Monday night, Tarah and I walked up the strip and hit the casinos. I dropped only $6 into the various nickel poker machines and got 4 drinks - not a bad night. We didn't get back to the hotel until 5am after stopping off at Slots o' Fun for some Subway and vodka cranberries. Tuesday we went to New York New York and road the kickass rollercoaster. New Year Eve night on the strip was crazy! I heard that they estimated that there were 300,000 people there. My dad, Tarah, Nick and I braved the madness. We were doing good until we tried to cross the street near the Barbary Coast. The crowd was thick and we got separated from Dad. Nick and I made our way back through the crowd while Tarah went to find Dad, we were to meet up back at Caesars Palace. The New Year rolled in and Nick and I watched the fireworks on top of the Flamingo Casino. We still hadn't met up with Tarah so we waited while the crowd thinned out a bit and then began the long trek back to the hotel. Finally outside of the Stardust we spotted Dad and Tarah walk towards us from Circus Circus. It turns out that Tarah had been waiting outside of a different part of Caesars Palace and when we didn't show she made her way back, watching the fireworks from in front of Treasure Island. My dad had just headed right back to the hotel after we had gotten separated. I was so exhausted from all the walking that I just went straight to bed. New Years Day was spent at the Hilton at Star Trek The Experience and we headed out of town at around 4pm. Hopefully I will get my pictures from the trip up soon.
Life since then has pretty much been uneventful. My family left town on Saturday the 4th and I got the stomach flu that night and had to call in sick to work for the first time on Sunday. Luckily it was only a 36-hour bug, but it was a miserable 36 hours. I started going to dance class again and I am still going to the gym. My next appointment with my personal trainer is on Friday so we'll see if I have made any progress.
Well, at least this post is long to make up a bit for the huge gap.
