Slack
So I have been slacking a bit in my blog entries and have been yelled at by my one and only reader, so I figure I should try and make her happy.
This past weekend I went home to Minnesota to visit my family and see my niece in her dance recital. I also got to ride on the new boat and it is the r0x0r \m/
I finally got rid of my ghetto Nokia 3390 phone and traded it in for a Samsung E105 color flip phone. It is seriously sweet. I already have two kick ass ringtones that I bought and after a bit of searching I found this wicked cool site where you can upload a .gif file and then download and save it to your phone. No more paying $2 for some shitty wallpaper. I can create my own now.
I thnk that is about all I have to report for now. Hopefully I will be putting up some more pictures soon.

Trekkin'
Well, this past weekend I took a lovely three day trip to LA. It was the first road trip for my new little car and she did great. I had a fabulous time. It was wonderful to see my good friend Brandi again, and just enjoy the California sunshine - which is completely different than the Arizona sunshine. Sort of.
Anyway, I left at about 8am on Thursday morning after finishing my graveyard shift. The drive was peaceful and ueventful, except that I had to pay over $25 to fill my tank! My tiny, 13.2 gallon tank. Damn.
I arrived at the hostel at about 1pm, checked in, freshened up and headed over to the LA Film School to catch a screening of Spectres, an indi movie starring Marina Sirtis and tons of other sci-fi actors like Dean Haglund and Linda Park, who were both at the screening. The movie was very intersting, very typically indi and the cast was great.
That night I had dinner with Brandi at a pub called The Cat and the Fiddle. It's right on Sunset Blvd, just two blocks from the hostel. The shepard's pie and pint of Guiness were fabulous. After some fun girl talk we called it a semi-early night and I crashed at the hostel. I had been awake for about 24 hours at that point.
Friday I got up early and headed west to find a stretch of beach to sit on and do my homework. Somehow I got lost and ended up driving through a bunch of canyons. It was a really pretty drive so I wasn't too pissed. I think I even saw the American Idol house. I finally got back to Hollywood and hopped onto Santa Monica Blvd. since I knew for a fact that it could get me to the ocean. I ended up on a little beach in Malibu, near Pepperdine. After knocking out a huge chunk of my homework it was time for lunch so I headed back to Santa Monica. I ate at a really good Mexican fast food place called La Salsa and then did a bit of shopping. I scored three tops and then two pairs of cargo pants for under $10 each.
That evening I met up with Brandi again for some dinner and then a pint at another pub. We were both hella tired and had an early morning ahead of us so we parted ways at about 11pm.
Saturday was the day of Creation's Sci-fi Summit. Since I still needed to buy my ticket (and since I had to get my car out of the lot before 8am or pay more), I headed out to Pasadena early. The convention was cool, but it went by really fast. We went and chatted with Wil Wheaton at his table before listening a bit to John Rhys-Davies talk on the main stage. When I approached Wil's table he actually jumped out of his seat, practically ran around his table and gave me a huge hug! I was toally taken aback and couldn't stop shaking. He was absolutly sweet and adorable as usual.
At 2pm it was time to head over to the "Little Theatre" to catch Wil's reading. He was absolutly amazing. Even better than Vegas last year. I just love his ability to pull the audience in.
By about 4:30 Brandi and I had seen everything that we wanted to so we headed back to Wil's table to say good-bye. His scincerety and honesty are startling, not what you would expect from a Hollywood actor, but then, he isn't your typical Hollywood actor at all. He thanked us again for all our support and for coming out to see him. We said that we would see him in Vegas. Since it was time for dinner, Brandi asked him where was a good place to eat. Wil pointed us to Lucky Baldwin's Pub about 4 blocks from the convention center. He even drew us a little map so we wouldn't get lost and recommended some brews.
The pub was awesome and the beer kicked ass. I had a pint and a half of Arogant Bastard Ale that knocked me stupid. I wasn't drunk, but I could definitly feel it after just one pint. Damn good beer. The burger was good too.
After dancing around in the little garden area outside of the Pasadena Convention Center to burn off some of the alcohol, I headed back to the hostel in Hollywood, only getting lost once - actually I didn't get lost, I just thought I had and needlessly back tracked. Dumbass.
I left LA at about 8am Sunday morning. The drive home was just as uneventful as the drive there. I made it back into Phoenix at about 3pm.
I was a fabulous trip. I can't wait until Vegas!
