Am I crazy?

Don't answer that.

So this weekend I have decided to be impulsive and fly to California at the last minute.

It all started with an innocent conversation with my good friend Brandi. She mentioned that she would be heading down to San Diego to check out Comic Con on Thursday. I was intrigued. I had never been to San Diego and Comic Con sounded fun. Just for the hell of it I checked out prices for flights to San Diego. Southwest had its usually $100 one-way faire. Since she would be driving back to LA that night, I would have to fly out of Burbank on Saturday. Southwest had a flight from Burbank to Phoenix for under $50.

I was sold.

Now I am packing my things and am going to catch a bus to work tonight, then another in the morning to the airport. Sweet.

Blast from the Past

Have you ever wondered what the hell happened to someone from high school?

Recently my father sent me about ten boxes full of crap that I had left at the house. They contained the usual nostalgia, pictures and old yearbooks, pieces of my youth. I thumbed through the yearbooks, reading some of the passages my handful of friends wrote.

There were two particular items that brought back a flood of wonderful memories, the script for my final summer musical and the dance shoes that I wore in that show. That musical was the last big thing of my high school years before I went off to college half way across the country.

There were two pairs of dance shoes, identical except for the metal taps nailed to the bottom of one pair. On the bottom of each shoe was an inscription in black sharpie. Normally one would think that the inscription would be the name of the owner of the shoes, to distinguish them from all the other dancers' tap shoes, but these shoes were signed by a Maria Morales. Maria was the assistant costume director on the show and we became friends that summer. Too bad it was my last summer. I really think we might have become even better friends had we stayed in touch, but I've lost touch with everyone from high school. I briefly wondered what happened to Miss Maria Morales.

Last night I didn't feel like going out to get food and there wasn't anything in the apartment so I broke down and ordered a pizza. As I was waiting for the delivery guy I flipped on the TV. The TiVo was tuned to one of the movie channels. I pressed 'info' and my wonderful TiVo told me that the movie was called 'National Lampoon's Dorm Daze' and it was just starting. Not usually my kind of movie, but I watched a few minutes of it and for some reason couldn't change the channel. It was campy, but it kept my attention. When it was over I watched the credits go by and one caught my eye: "Screen Play by Patrick Casey and Worm Miller."

My fist reaction was "No way, it couldn't be. Not *the* Pat Casey."

Since the majority of my three readers didn't know me back in High School, I will explain.

From sophomore all the way through senior year I was completely in love with a friend of my named... you guessed it, Pat Casey. Looking back, I know that I was so obvious and everyone knew that I liked him, but at the time I preferred to remain in my delusional teenage state of mind and believe that I was being clever.

Once in a while I will wonder what happened to him. He's even made a few appearances in my dreams. Nothing like that - get your mind out of the gutter! Supposedly if you dream about an old crush then you are sexually frustrated. Makes sense. The last I heard was that he was planning on heading out to California to try and sell screen plays with his friend Josh Miller.

So after the initial "No way!" wore off, I ran up to the computer and pulled up my old friend, imdb. There was no information on this Patrick Casey tied to the movie, except the usual list of projects. The site also credited him with a small bit part in the Dorm Daze movie, a 'Touring Student.' The information on his co-writer, Worm Miller, said that he was form Minnesota, so it was looking more and more like this very well could be *the* Pat Casey.

Have I mentioned how much I love my TiVo? Well I do. I was able to rewind the movie I had just watched to the scene where there was a bunch of students touring the campus.

He still looks exactly the same, only with shorter hair. If I had been paying more attention to the scene the first time around I probably would have recognized him.

After some online research (thank you Google!) I found their website, Amazing Schlock Film Factory.

I think I will drop him an email to say hi.

I also found out what happened to Maria. She was in a couple of their films and the site says that she is now living on the East Coast.

All of this is just too fucking weird.

I love widgets

I love widgets The coolest thing about the Mac OS has to be the dashboard widgets. This post is mostly to test out my latest widget, DashBlog.

Sorry about the lull in posts lately, but my live has kinda been flipped upside-down. More on that later, maybe.

**Update**
I works, but it tacks the first couple words of the post onto the title for some reason. Annoying. Hopefully that will be fixed in later versions.
