More Craziness

I tried my hand at dance class for the first time in almost 3 months. Freakin ouch. The key word that I missed was "ease." I should ease myself back into dance class. I've learned my lesson and will take it easier next time.

On the way home from class, I got a flat tire, which is exactly what I needed. The thing was shredded and it was the same tire that got shredded a year and a half ago.

I am just coming up on 30,000 miles on my car, so I am about due for a whole new set anyway.

I took it to Discount Tire and the guy took a look at all four tires (including the shredded one in my trunk) and told me that my front tires are really worn and my back passenger is OK for now, but would need to be replaced in about a month.

Since I am going to be drving to Cali and then to Vegas next month, visions of being stranded in the middle of the desert with a flat tire swam before my eyes.

I opted to bite the bullet and buy four brand new tires. The guy was nice enough to give me a good deal on the more expensive tires (he cut $6 each tire) and assured me that they have stores in California (though under a different name), so that I would be able to take advantage of their replacement plan. I still had to drop a huge chunk onto my credit card.

The afternoon was spent cancelling my utilities at my current residence and setting up new accounts for the place in Cali.

Fun times. I love it when my insurance premium goes up $268. Weeee!

When I tried to set up internet service through the phone company (AT&T), it kept saying that DSL service was not available. I was confused. How can an apartment in the middle of North Hollywood be too far from anything to get DSL. I called their customer service and waited on hold for Pete knows how long and finally got an answer. The previous resident's service hasn't been completely shut off yet. WTF. I have to wait until Wednesday to try and set up the internets.

At least I will have DirecTV again a week from tomorrow. I only have to download two more Stargate episodes before I can watch them on my big TV again. Yay!

Roller Coaster

So much has happened, I am not sure which way is up half the time.

This past weekend was spent in California. I drove up Thursday evening and had an interview Friday morning. The interview went really well. The good news is, they said they will be sending me an official offer this week, the bad news is, it's third shift.

I've done my time on third shift (I keep typing that as shit), but if I have to, I will bide my time again.

I went to an awesome concert on Friday night featureing The Spores and picked up a bitchin CD.

Saturday I found the awesomest apartment. It's a one bedroom plus den in North Hollywood/Studio City/Valley Village. I filled out an application and the manager said she would have to wait until Monday to give it to the management company.

Saturday night we went and saw a wicked movie called A Scanner Darkly. I highly recommend it.

Sunday we played lawn darts at the park.

It was a productive weekend.

Monday I get a call from the apartment manager saying that my credit is good, I have no evictions (duh), but they need to verify my income before they can accept my application. I told her that I have an offer coming in this week for a job out there, but my income can't be verified yet. I offered to pay three months up front, since I have the money in the bank. She said that she would talk to the company and get back to me.

Gah.

Today my phone desides that it doesn't want to work anymore. The only button that functions is the power button. Not very useful.

I made a trip to the mall to the T-Mobile store. The dude looked up my account and found that my phone was still under warranty - for 9 more days. Thank gawd it decided to die now and not two weeks from now, I would have been pissed.

Unfortunately it will take them 3-5 days to mail me a replacement. They usually have loaner phones, but they are all out. He called every store in the Phoenix area, and none of them had an loaner phones in stock. The guy that was right ahead of me was getting the very last one. In order to get a loaner phone, you need to have a credit card so that they can charge you if you don't return it in two weeks. Lucky for me, the guy didn't have the credit card, so I got the shitty loaner phone. It's crap, but at least it's a phone.

On the way home I got a call from the apartment manager to tell me that they accpeted my offer and I got the apartment! W00t!

Five minutes later my phone rings again. It's freakin Disney calling to set up a phone interview! Holy shit!

OK, I think I have rambled on long enough. I will go and pack up some more things. Yay.

Upheaval

In case everyone (the two people that read this) is wondering what the hell has been happening in my life lately, I would like to offer this quick update.

As of last Monday, I am officially unemployed. Weeee! Although it sucks not having that money coming in before the move, I am actually a bit relieved. That place was making me batty.

I have my first interview for a job in LA this Friday, and I will also be apartment hunting there this weekend. There seems to be a lot of great possible places in a great neighborhood that are all about in my price range.

I am so frakkin excited.

Oh and Stargate SG-1 season 10 premiere is this Friday. W00t!

And I had a little chat with my Physical Therapist today and he said that if I am good, and I keep progressing the way I have been, I might be able to do the competition on August 5th!

So things are starting to fall into place now. After this weekend, I should have a place lined up in LA and things will be even better.
